N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores
Design-a-Dino contest rules
1. This is a skill-based contest and chance plays no part in the determination of winning.
2. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A purchase will not increase your odds of winning.
3. Contest is open to all ages in the U.S.
4. Contest begins Feb. 19, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. EST and ends April 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
5. To enter, print out the image and color it in using any medium you'd like. Email entry to ith subject line "Design a Dino". Alternatively, entries can be mailed: NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, 1 Roosevelt Blvd. Pine Knoll Shores, N.C. 28512.
6. Entry must include:
A.Full name– first, middle initial and last
B. Age (at time of entry)
C. State or province
D.Contact information– phone number, email and mailing address
E. If under 18, parent or legal guardian's full name, telephone number and email address.
F. Two to three sentences that description of endangered species that drawing is modeled after with anexplanation of why that species was chosen.
(For example: My dinosaur was colored to represent the Houston Toad, which is endangered due to habitat loss. I chose this little, 2 to 3.5-inch-long, amphibian because of its spectacular rocky texture and coloring.)
Any entries missing the above requirements will be immediately disqualified.
7. Entry must be received by the N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores no later than 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2018 by email or mail.
8. Contact and shipping information collected will be used for the purposes of this contest only and will not be used for marketing or other purposes.
9. Limit one entry per person.
10. All entries must be original and entirely created by the entrant. There are no restrictions on what an entrant can use to color the image.
11. Entries will be judged by Aquarium staff based on creativity, coloring skill, overall artistic ability and description of endangered species. One winner will be determined by the judges in their sole discretion. The decisions of the judges will be final and binding in all respects.
12. One winner will be selected no later than April 18, 2018. We will contact the winner by email. The name, city and state of the winner will be posted on the N.C. Aquarium Pine Knoll Shores website (
13. The winning coloring scheme will be recreated in the parameters of the manufacturer on an animatronic dinosaur to be displayed at the N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores in a seasonal exhibit in 2018.
14. In addition, the winner will receive four general admission tickets to the N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.
15. Non-compliance or return of prize notification as undeliverable, whether by email or telephone, may result in disqualification and selection of an alternative potential winner.
16. N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores may substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
17. Aquarium passes will be sent to the winner via mail.
18. N.C. Aquariums division, N.C. Aquarium Society, and their affiliates, employees, employees' children, retailers and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
19. All entries become the property of N.C. Aquariums Division and may be used or reproduced in any manner and for any purpose without additional consent or compensation, and will not be acknowledged or returned.
20. By participating, Contest entrants: (1) represent that they have complied with these Official Contest Rules; (2) have received parental consent and grant N.C. Aquariums at Pine Knoll Shores the right to use his or her name, city, state, and likeness, (3) release N.C. Aquariums at Pine Knoll Shores from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, and (4) agree to execute an affidavit of eligibility/prize acceptance form and publicity release if requested to do so, all without further compensation.
21. N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is not responsible for lost, late or misdirected entries, or incomplete/incorrect entries.
22. N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores reserves the right to disqualify anyone who attempts to tamper or otherwise interfere with the proper functioning of the promotion.
