Description of ETC's Workshops:

Desktop Publishing
Publisher 2000
Learn to easily create professional-looking flyers, signs, newsletters, cards and more using Microsoft's Publisher 2000.

Hardware:
Digital Camera
Using the Sony Mavica digital camera, this hands-on course will go through the basics of recording and playing back of images. This course (or equivalent instruction) is required before the digital camera can be borrowed from Technology Training.

Windows Windows NT:
Introduction
This hands-on course is designed for those with little or no Windows Experience or for folks that are making the transition to Windows NT from either another Windows environment or a Macintosh platform. It will teach the user how to navigate the Windows NT environment and built-in applications. This course is the foundation for all applications courses.
File Management
This course goes though file management within Windows NT. Some of the concepts taught are directory structures, creating folders, moving files, and finding or searching for "lost" files.
Tips and Tricks
Learn shortcuts and techniques that will enable you to impress your co-workers and friends.

*The pre-requisite for each of the above Introductory Application courses is Introduction to Windows 95 or Windows NT, or equivalent experience using either Windows 95 or Windows NT.

Using the Internet:
Introduction
This hands-on course focuses on basic terminology (HTTP, WWW, HTML, URL, Bookmarks), navigation, and the use of a web browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer).
Search Engines
The internet is huge and getting bigger everyday. Learn how to find what you need, when you need it.
E-Mail - Microsoft Outlook
This course provides you with e-mail skills using Microsoft Outlook. You will learn how to send and receive e-mail messages, how to send and receive attachments, and how to create and use mailboxes and and address book.

Web Development:
Introduction to Microsoft FrontPage 2000 - Creating a Home Page
This hands-on course gives you the opportunity to design and create your own home page using Microsoft’s popular web authoring tool, FrontPage 2000.

Beginning BlackBoard 5.5
Bring your course materials, class discussions, assignments and quizzes to the WWW using Blackboard's 5.5. This new product to SCC will enable you to enhance your in-class instruction and/or deliver distance learning.
