Paula Myers, great granddaughter of John Henry Amos, had been told that the father and four boys came to America, c1825-1836, entry point being Philadelphia. Not sure of when or if Gertrude came too, or maybe had passed away by this time. The entry point is believed to be Philadelphia. From there, they settled in New York for a short period and then moved on to Tuscarawas County, Ohio.

To this union were born Margaret, Annie, Esta, and Edwin. Annie married a Mr. McClure.

Haman and Miriam were on their way to Missouri with a team and wagon. They stopped to camp for the night. Miriam was sitting by the fire, picking a prairie chicken that Hamon had killed on the trail. Hamon was unloading the wagon. He picked up the gun and the trigger caught on a tie on a comfort and the gun discharged, hitting Miriam and killing her instantly. Hamon almost lost his mind after this terrible accident.
