Mr. Derwin Daniels is currently employed with Georgia Perimeter College (GPC) in Decatur, Georgia, as Coordinator of the Fire Management Associate of Applied Science degree. He is also an instructor in the Homeland Security/Emergency Management Program at GPC which is an Associate of Arts Degree.
Mr. Daniels’s background was initially as a firefighter, investigator, and inspector. Since 2007, he has worked with Region IV of the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a Disaster Assistance Employee in the Planning Section. He has also worked with The Eagle Group, conducting homeland security exercises throughout the State of Georgia.
Mr. Daniels holds an M.S. in technology from the University of Houston and a graduate certificate in disaster management from Georgia State University. He is also a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers, and the Georgia State Firefighter Association, and he works with DeKalb Technical High School public safety classes on disaster drills.
Future goals for Mr. Daniels in emergency management is to meet others teaching and coordinating classes in homeland security/emergency management as well as building bridges to consult in the field and continue in training and educational environments.
