2016 MIDDLE EAST EXPERIENCE DEPUTY CONVENOR

The UN Youth Australia Middle East Experience is an opportunity to explore the realities of contemporary peace-building, through a tour of one of the most geopolitically significant regions in our world.

Deputy Convenors will assist the Convenor and as a team be responsible for the entire program, including tour planning, financial management, welfare and safety, educational outcomes, promotion of the tour and selection of around ten high school aged delegates to take on the tour. Then, they will lead the delegation on the tour, serving as mentors and welfare officers throughout the trip.

The 2015 tour, the inaugural year for the Middle East Experience, took delegates through Dubai, Amman, Petra and Jerusalem, and included a 4 day immersion volunteering with an organisation in Jerusalem bringing Jewish and Arab children together in bilingual classrooms with bilingual teachers and principals.
