Planning Server software prerequisites

Planning Server software prerequisites

PerformancePoint Planning Server is based on the following Microsoft programs and technologies:

Windows Server® 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), Standard Edition or Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) Standard Edition.

Microsoft Windows® XP Professional with Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Microsoft Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 (SP2)

SQL Server 2005 with Service Pack 2 (SP2), Enterprise Edition. For Windows Server 2008 SQL Server Native Client 9.0 (SP2) is required when SQL Server is installed on a separate computer.

Note:

Planning Server relational databases can run on Standard Edition, but Planning Server requires Enterprise Edition for its SQL Server Analysis Services databases.

A cumulative update has been released for SQL Server 2005 SP2. This update is called "Cumulative update package 3 for SQL Server 2005 SP2" and is also known as build 3186. All Analysis Services computers in your PerformancePoint Server environment must have this update applied prior to your Planning Server installation.

The update package can be requested by going to:

Windows Installer 3.1

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 first, and then Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5

Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0 or 7.0 (IIS).

Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0

Important:

For Windows Server 2008 use the Server Manager tool to add the server role Web Server (IIS). On the Role Services page select the following options: ASP.NET, Windows Authentication, and IIS6 Management Compatibility.

Important

PerformancePoint Planning Server supports 32-bit and 64-bit operating system environments. The following are the supported Planning Server and operating system combinations. All other combinations are not recommended and are unsupported.
