Job Title: Outdoor Instructor
Reporting to: Chief Instructor
1. Purposeof the Role:
To deliver and assist with delivery of high quality sessions across the outdoor department. To assist with the day to day running of the outdoor department to ensure efficiency and maintain our professional image.
2.Dutiesand Responsibilities:
a)Instructor, coach and mentor outdoor activity learners to ensure they have a safe and positive experience.
b)Assist with centre administration as required.
c)Plan sessions thoroughly to ensure structure and quality.
d)Pro actively promote positive relationships with WPNSA and on site partners.
e)Deliver both experiential learning programmes and outdoor sessions as required.
f)Provide a positive role model for learners.
g)Provide a positive role model for apprentices and junior staff.
h)Promote high levels of customer service at all times and maintain a professional image.
i)Ensure that personal qualifications remain valid and current.
j)Keep up to date with industry recommendations and requirements.
k)Assist with general maintenance tasks within the Outdoor School as required.
General Responsibilities:
(a)Drive and participate in the performance management process as appropriate to position.
(b)Comply with the College’s Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Quality Improvement policies and their recommendations.
(c)Carry out operational duties as required and commensurate with the position.
(d)Promote and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons.
(e)Use all available resources efficiently and effectively, and in-line with good eco-friendly practices.
(f)Attend and contribute to team meetings and in-service training as and when requested.
(g)Undertake appropriate personal and professional development activities, and record on the College Continuing Professional Development (CPD) system
(h)Manage and minimise risk within all areas of responsibility.

Strong communication skills both verbal and written /
Excellent organisational skills /
Personal Qualities
Patient with both students and other team members /
Prepared to deal with a range of situations /
