CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Wade Dorsey called the meeting to order at 10:08 a.m.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Chairman Wade Dorsey had nothing to report.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

After all members of the Board had an opportunity to carefully review the minutes of the

April 21, 2014 meeting, Mr. Jones made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 21, 2014 meeting with corrections.

The motion was seconded by Mrs. Sherrard.

The motion was unanimously approved (5-0)

LICENSE APPLICATION REVIEWS

Applicant: Cody Hesseltine (application tabled from 4/21/14 meeting for lack of required number of year’s employment)

Upon completely reviewing and discussing a letter presented to the Board from Mr. Hesseltine’s present employer as evidence of his meeting the appropriate employment requirement for licensure, Mr. Jones made a motion to approve Mr. Hesseltine’s application for licensure in the State as a Forester.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Markovich.

The motion was unanimously approved (5-0).

Applicant: Samuel Prestidge II

Upon completely reviewing and discussing documents Mr. Prestidge presented to the Board showing that his degree was accredited by the S.A.F. at time of graduation. Mr. Dorsey made a motion to approve Mr. Prestidge’s application for licensure in the State as a Forester.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Jones.

The motion was unanimously approved (5-0).

Applicant: Martin Lieb

Upon completely reviewing and discussing Mr. Lieb’s qualifications and other pertinent information contained in the application and having not received a formal appeal from Mr. Lieb for the denial of his application at the Boards last meeting. Mrs. Sherrard made a motion to let the Boards previous decision of denial stands since Mr. Lieb’s degree from Boston College is not the same as Mr. Prestige and is not accredited by the S.A.F.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Markovich.

The motion was unanimously approved (5-0).

Applicant: Jamie K. Weaver

Upon completely reviewing and discussing Mr. Weaver’s qualifications and other pertinent information contained in the application Mr. Rider made a motion to approve Mr. Weaver’s application for licensure as a Forester in the State.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Dorsey.

Applicant: Clark McColley

Upon completely reviewing and discussing Mr. McColley’s qualifications and other pertinent information contained in the application, Mr. Markovich made a motion to approve Mr. McColley’s application for licensure in the State as a Forester.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Jones.

The motion was unanimously approved (5-0).

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT

Executive Director, Dennis Gring led discussion of S.A.F. accreditation may be redefined in areas not traditionally considered forestry or defined in law as the practice of forestry. There may need to be modifications to law to give authority to the Board to adopt a curriculum in forestry in addition to accreditation by S.A.F.

COMPLAINT COMMITTEE REPORT

Mr. Gring reported to the Board that there was one complaint that was closed and no new complaints were received.

Upon a motion by Mr. Dorsey and seconded by Mr. Rider, the meeting adjourned at 11:47 a.m.
