Assistant/Associate Professor

The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a full-time tenure track position beginning August 2014, pending budgetary approval. Preference given to candidateswho possess a terminal degree in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology (ABDstatus considered).

The following expectation areas will guide the search committee in the selection of a successful candidate:

University: Candidatemust demonstrate commitment to McMurry University’s mission, Core Values,and to understand the role a small church-related university performs in higher education.

Teaching:Candidate must demonstrate skills, abilities, and commitment to teach, communicate, and work with undergraduate students. McMurry University places high regard on quality teaching and engaged professionals.

Professional load of teaching andHPL responsibilities will be theequivalent of 12 hours credit per semester. Candidate must be proficient in use of a course management system(MOODLE experience preferred).

Departmental:Candidate must have references that can speak to his/her ability to work collaboratively with departmental colleagues regarding curricula, instruction, strategic planning, and assessment.

Candidate’s position requires her/him to support use of and activities within the Human Performance Laboratory as they relate to departmental and student project endeavors. Human parameter and exercise testing/prescription experience preferred.

Scholarship:Candidate’s vitae should provide evidence of current and historical contributions to the profession through involvement in, leadership within, and scholarly activity in an Exercise Science related professional organization.

Service: Candidate willserve as an academic advisor to majors/minors in one of the university’s largest programs;assist with sponsorship of the major’s club; represent the department and school on university assigned committees; andrepresent the Department and University as community opportunities and enrollment recruiting activities arise.Candidate must demonstrate commitment to profession through active membership in an Exercise Science related professional organization (i.e. ACSM, TAHPERD, etc.).

  1. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.
  2. Candidates must submit ALL application documents by February 28, 2014 to be eligible for consideration.

  1. Upon receipt of the above, a McMurry University Employment Application will be e-mailed to candidate. Upon receipt of all stated items, the candidates file will be ready for review. Review begins on February 28th.
