Controller Examination

IUST

Sub: Unfair Means Case

Dear Sir,

The members of the Committee constituted under Memo No. IUST/Controller Office/17/608 dated09-05-2017interacted with the invigilatory staff that include Mr. Umar Mushtaq (Super-intendent), Mr. Tanveer (Invigilator), Ms. Falika (Complainant) and Mr. Tariq (Invigilator). The answer script of the student was also examined by the course instructor.

Below are some of the observations:-

-There was a tablet on the student’s desk that belonged to Mr. Umar (against whom the complaint was made) but it couldn’t be proved that the student has used the tablet.

-It was also not proved that the Superintendent has helped the student during examination. But the complaint couldn’t be rejected as baseless.

-The invigilator has mentioned the word ‘cheating’ on the title cover of the answer script, but the answer script was not segregated and sealed separately as should have been done under rules.

On the basis of these observations, following are the recommendations:-

-The result of the student should be declared. However, he should be kept on probation for a year.

-Mr. Umar should be asked to explain as to why the disputed answer script was not sealed separately and advised to do the same during future examinations.

The invigilatory staff should be advised to gather the relevant evidences (like photographs, seizure of material, etc.) under such cases.
