APPLICATION FOR SHORT EXTENSION

TO ASSESSED WORK SUBMISSION DEADLINE

NOTE: This form should only be used for extension up to four weeks. For longer extensions please use the Long Extension form)

For all late work submitted with no prior formal approval or insufficiently acceptable reason for lateness,a penalty of 5% on the mark actually achieved will be imposed for each day the assignment is late until 0% is reached. For example, a mark of 67% would become 62% on day one, 57% on day two and so on. Penalties do not include weekends, public and University closed days.

(Please note that minor computer problems, lost assignments, desired books not in the library, unverifiable travel difficulties are not a sufficient reason for lateness.)

Students who believe they have grounds for exemption from the penalty stipulated for the late submission of assessed work and/or the dissertation must complete the procedure outlined below BEFORE the relevant deadline. The submission of more than one essay on any particular day or 'computer problems' WILL NOT be considered sufficient reason for an extension.
