Location: Lewiston Auburn College
Schedule: 16 hours per week, flexible but 4 hours/day preferred.
Pay: $15.00/hour
Reports to: Sally Slovenski, Director, Maine Campus Compact (MCC)
Start date: As soon as possible after Oct. 1, 2017.
End date: The position is for an 11 month period.
Position Description:
The Student Associate for Maine Campus Compact’s Partnership for Environmental Stewardship works with the MCC, a project of the University of Southern Maine. MCC is a statewide coalition of 18 college and university presidents established to support the civic mission of higher education.
The Student Associate will assist MCC with its campus/community partnerships focused on reducing energy consumption and providing weatherization services. The Student Associate will:
- Assist with recruiting and processing AmeriCorps Members
- Help organize and assist with Member trainings.
- Help organize and assist with community and campus energy reduction events such Community Energy Education Events, Window Insert Community Builds and Green Certification home audits.
- Assist with progress reports and other reporting and evaluation requirements for funders and the processing of time sheets and applications.
- Identify and build community partnerships and outreach to volunteers
- Help plan workshops and institutes on service-learning and other professional development events.
- Assist with developing and delivering training and resources to support campus efforts to integrate service with academic study and to create engaged campuses.
- Update website and maintain regular communications with MCC host sites and Members.
- Coordinate work and administrative support with Program Director and Executive Director as needed.
- Adhere to all AmeriCorps protocols and requirements.
Required:
- Matriculation in a USM graduate program and enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours within the program
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and relate effectively with diverse constituents and community partners.
- Self-starter who can juggle multiple responsibilities in fast paced environment.
- Superior organizational skills
- Able to assist with volunteer recruitment and management.
- Detail oriented and follows systems and protocols.
- Flexibility to travel in southern Maineand work occasional evenings/weekends as part of the 20 hours/week.
Preferred:
- Environmental sustainability experience a plus.
- Civic engagement experience and event planning experience a plus.
- Experience working with AmeriCorps or other national service grant programs a plus.
