Position: F&B Server
Position Summary:The F&B Server’s primary function is to provide friendly, efficient service of food and beverages requested by guests and collect payment for such items.
Accountabilities:This role is responsible for pre-setting the restaurant, serving the meal courses, maintaining any side work stations, clearing all tables during and after each meal, and storing equipment at the end of each shift in its proper place. Must be able to courteously handle all guest requests and be available to work a flexible schedule. The F&B Server is responsible for making guests feel welcome, comfortable and well attended to at all time.
Qualification Standards
Education & Experience:
- At least 1 year of progressive experience food & beverage
- ServSafe & TIPS Certificate preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Tools & Equipment:
- Calculator, computer, telephone
- Credit card authorization machine, cash register, touch screen monitor, printer
- Wine opener, carpet sweeper or vacuum, hot plates, coffee machines, Juice/ Soda Machine
Physical Requirements:
- Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
- Ability to stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning
- Ability to walk long distances
Mental Requirements:
- Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
- Ability to multi task
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
Other Abilities, Skills, Knowledge:
- Knowledge of F&B procedures and serving standards
- Health Department rules and regulations
- Liquor laws and regulations
- Bartending skills a plus
Duties & Functions
Essential:
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
- Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware
- Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee
- Have full knowledge of entire menu, as well as daily specials, desserts, etc
- Greet guests, inform of daily specials
- Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
- Describe and recommend wines to customers
- Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
- Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning
- Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
- Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his or her attention
- Participate in department meetings
- Insure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health & sanitation regulations
- Insure that all side work is completed before leaving property
- Insure that all restock and cleaning is performed at close of shift
- Be up to date on all guest services, promotions and events in the Resort
- Accurately complete daily cash out report
Keltic Lodge at the Highlands functions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day from mid May to mid October.
