20% = Final

A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%

BUSINESS OPERATIONS

Letter grades for the semester will be assigned for the cumulative points earned by students using the category weights noted above.

The student is responsible for knowing points earned in the course and keeping track of his/her grade. The grading scale is administered equally to all students in the course. Do not expect to receive a grade higher than that earned by your total points. There will be no "point adjustments" made for "class participation" or other subjective factors.

Course Final
The final consists of two parts. Part one of the final is a hands-on project to assess learning of the software applications. Students will create a portfolio that demonstrates their proficiency of the concepts learned in the course. Elements of this portfolio will include a Microsoft Word document, a PowerPoint presentation, an Excel spreadsheet, and an Access database. Part two of the final is an exam to cover the theory portions of the course. This will be a collection of questions from quizzes taken throughout the course.
PowerSchool Access
ThePowerSchools site allows parents/guardians and students to access the student’s grades, attendance, and other information. If you need your access information, please stop by the front desk during business hours. You will need a photo I.D. The web address is: ps.dvusd.org/public
Communication
Please contact the teacher for any student concerns. It is crucial that teachers, parents, and students maintain open lines of communication. Contact information is provided at the top of the first page.
Supplies

Students will need a class folder to keep notes and assignments, black or blue pen and a 4gig USB flash drive to store their assignments on. All work is the responsibility of the students to backup and maintain.

Attendance Standards
No more than twelve absences are permitted per semester. Upon the thirteenth absence, credit may be withdrawn. This includes excused and unexcused absences. School activity absences do not count against semester absences. Sweep is counted as an absence. If a partial class hour is missed, refer to the following: Less than 20 minutes of class time missed = half an absence; More than 20 minutes of class time missed = one absence.
Homework

Technology classes are content and vocabulary rich. Students will come prepared to class by reading the day’s lesson in the class text. A copy of the class text(s) are provided online. This will allow the students to be familiar with the instruction. Any unfinished work/projects become homework and will be do by the beginning of class the following day unless otherwise noted.

Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Devices

We are fortunate to have a classroom full of technology. Students will keep cell phones and other personal electronic devices put away during class. If seen, heard or used in any way they will be confiscated and given to the office. PARENTS ARE TO CALL THE SCHOOL DIRECTLY IF AN EMERGENY EXISTS. DO NOT CALL A STUDENT’S CELL PHONE WHILE THEY ARE IN CLASS.

Blackboard/eSchool

All assignments will be turned in using Blackboard unless otherwise noted. Should difficulty arise in submitting assignments, inform the instructor immediately but all work is ultimately the responsibility of the student to turn in on time.

Late/Missed Work Policy
Upon return to class after an absence, a student has one school day for each day missed to make up work/test assigned during his/her absence regardless of the number of days absent. For example, if a student is absent on Thursday and Friday, he/she will have Monday and Tuesday of the following week to make up work and must turn in the work that was assigned during the days absent on Wednesday. Coursework and assessments assigned prior to the absence(s) may still be due on the date assigned. It is the student’s responsibility to check with teachers immediately upon return for work missed and possible adjustment of due dates. Teachers may choose to schedule an appointment with the student to arrange due dates as needed.
Long Term Project Policy
Long term projects are assignments given at least two weeks in advance. Teachers should note that the assignment is a long term project in the written instructions provided for the students. Long term projects are due on or before the date assigned, even if the student or teacher is absent on the due date. See the Boulder Creek High School Student Handbook for additional details.
Academic Integrity Code
All students will adhere to the framework and guidelines set forth in the Boulder Creek High School Academic Integrity Code. Cheating and Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Knowingly using information or property of another, or knowingly sharing academic information to gain an unfair advantage will result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, loss of credit for the assignment or test.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Students in this course will be in the co-curricular student organization, Future Business Leaders of America. In addition to class activities, students will have the opportunity to attend meetings, participate in field-trips, and complete various activities to earn professional development points.
