LA FERME DE BRAY (THE FARMHOUSE OF BRAY)

Sommery

With its farming land dating back to the 17th century, its cider press, its water-mill, its bread oven and its dairy, the farmhouse of Bray fully contributes to the conservation of country memory.

In its old farming buildings, you can look up to various collections of traditional tools devoted to the making of cider, flour and Neufchâtel cheese. Thanks to a permanent exhibition with period documents, these various items are astutely displayed so as to recreate the way they were used in the past.

Sometimes described as a “magic place”, the farmhouse surprises us by the authenticity of its display, by its rich and well-preserved heritage.

Open from Easter to All Saint’s Day, on week-ends and bank holidays from 2 pm to 7 pm.On July and August, open every afternoon.

Rates: 5 € per person, free entrance for children under 12.

LE MUSEE DES MAQUETTES (MODEL MUSEUM)

Forges-les-Eaux

Located in Mondory park (behind city hall), this museum holds an interesting collection of models by Jean Guillot, arrived in Forges-les-Eaux in 1979. More than a hundred models recounts for us the everyday life in the area during early 20th century, from farm machines to dairy transports. We owe the naïve decorating of the place to a local artist : Monsieur Aléminni.

The museum counts also a collection of historical dolls, depicting the visit of Louis XVIII in Forges-les-Eaux in 1633.
