A picture containing outdoor object tree lamp Description generated with very high confidenceAll Hallows Eve is upon us: Trick or Treat! Wayne had an awesome idea after last week’s meeting. Realizing next Tuesday is Halloween he thought we all should come in costume. Seems harmless enough, right? To spice things up a bit there will be a prize for the best costume. Nobody but Wayne knows for sure. Will it be some sort of a trick or will it be a delightful treat? Only Wayne (aka “the master goblin”) knows for sure. So give it some thought and come prepared for Halloween. By the way, the hotel promised to let you in regardless of what you look like.

Kevin’s Corner:Our own Kevin Sullivan has been kicking around the Rotary world for well over 30 years. Over that period, he has shared his tidbits of wisdom, information on Books, the world in general, children, and what he calls jokes and humor. What we are incorporating in the newsletter from time to time is a small paragraph of his wit and wisdom. Hope you enjoy them.

Definitions we should think about in today’s volatile political climate:

  • Liberal: Open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
  • Conservative: Holding to traditional attitudes and values and is cautious about change or innovation.
  • Progressive: Happening or developing gradually or in stages, proceeding step by step.
  • Libertarian: Believes in the doctrine of free will.
  • Communism: Believes all property should be publicly owned, everyone works, and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
  • Socialism: Advocates the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned and/or regulated by the community as a whole.
  • Capitalism: A system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit.

Nominating Committee:The Nominating Committee (this year consisting of Jacquelin, Debi, Nate, and Melinda) is hard at work putting a slate of officers together for next year. If you would like to serve in one of these positions or know of someone who might, please let them know.

Website Committee:if you haven’t heard by now we have a website committee headed up by Rebecca. She has enlisted a number of our members on various aspects of the committee. Thus far they have chosen Clubrunner as the host platform and that has been approved by the BOD. Their focus is now turning to training on the new platform and getting people trained on updating various pages. More to come as it is developed.
