Our launch site is at the base of Lewisville Dam, located in the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) with a takeoutnearHebron Parkway nearCarrollton. The total length of the paddle is approximately 6.8 miles and will take from 2 to 4 hours, depending on river flow and the group paddling speed. This particular area is quite beautiful, and you will enjoy clear and cool water, an abundance of wildlife and unique vegetation and wildflowers, just to mention a few.

Please arrive no later than 9:45amto be fitted for a boat, paddle and life jacket. The safety talk begins at 10:00 with paddles wet at 10:15 am. Remember the early worm gets the bird....(read in the better choice of which kayak !)

In order to make your experience more enjoyable, here are a few friendly and fun general guidelines with respect to clothes, gear and expectations on the river.

You will best enjoy this experience if you have taken ourIntro 2 Kayak course or possess equivalent kayak experience. However personsnew to kayaking will still have lots of fun. The launch area is at the base of Lewisville Dam were the river flow is swiftest and the water is shallow. It is not uncommon to have your boat turn sideways down the river or to get lodged on a rock or sand bar. If you have never kayaked before, or do not know how to steer your boat, this part of the trip may be challenging and a bit frustrating at first. Not to fear..were here to help you! About 3/4 of the way we'll stop and take a break, maybe get wet and absolutely have a snack, then re-launch and complete of adventure. The take out area is rocky and uneven, proper kayak skills are essential and this could be hazardous to the novice kayaker. Please wait for help, andif you are unsure and kindly follow our safety instructions. Remember...if you have taken Kayak Power’s Intro2Kayaking course, you will possess all the skills necessary to have this trip be enjoyable and relaxing, fun and exciting. That's our shameless plug for kayak classes!
