Dear Parents of Brunswick Middle Schoolers,

The ‘big day’ for distributing Chromebooks to students in grades 6-8 is right around the corner! Please carefully read the information provided below. Please contact your building principal if you have additional questions.

When: Saturday, January 16 from 9:00-2:30

Where: Brunswick High School Student Center (Library).

Park in the lot behind Tri-C. Enter through the Student Center doors.

Who:Each student must pick up their own device.

Parents are not required to be present.

Students may not pick up devices for friends.

How:Students must present a signed, hard-copy of the district participation agreement.

Blank forms may be downloaded from your school’s homepage.

Parents are not required to be present.

Students may not pick up devices for friends.

How Long: We’ll have nine checkout stations set up to keep things moving along. The

checkout process assigns a Chromebook to your child by serial number. It works

just like checking out a library book and takes less than five minutes. The same process will be used at the end of the year when your child will return the same device (serial number) assigned to him/her.

Cases: Cases and covers are strongly encouraged but not provided by the district.

Students will have the opportunity to purchase a case for $6 on Jan. 16 in the Student Center. We were only able to purchase 800 so they will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Checks can be made out to Brunswick City Schools. (All proceeds used to pay for the cases. This is not a fund-raiser.)

Answers to Frequently Asked Parent Questions About

Brunswick City Schools 1:1 and Student Google Accounts

How is their school gmail different from their home email?

Students will not be able to use their personal email accounts even if they are Gmail accounts. Some of the tools available in a public Google account will not be available in the Brunswick School District Google Domain and visa-versa. Also, there are no advertisements when working in our Brunswick School District Google Domain.

Can my child receive emails and send emails and to who?

Students in grades 6-8 may send emails to others within the Brunswick Google domain (teachers, classmates, etc.). Students in grades 9-12 will be able to send and receive emails inside and outside the district. All emails are archived and can be retrieved at any time. Lastly, teachers will only communicate with students through their district Google account.

Will personal devices be able to connect at school?

After the distribution of all devices personal devices will no longer be able to connect to the GoBlue network.

What happens if i do not have internet at home?

The devices can connect to public wifi that is available at the library, restaurants or even in the BHS parking lot!

Who does my child contact for support? Is there after hours support ?

Your child can take their device to the media center and a help ticket will be created for their device. Most devices will be fixed within a 24 hour period. A ‘loaner’ device will be given to your child until their device is returned. Unfortunately, there is not after hours support.

Who do I contact for questions?

Your child’s teacher should be able to answer most questions. If they cannot, they will direct you to the appropriate resource or person.

What about content filter?

Filtering is ‘on’ while connected at school only. We do not route our filter outside of the district.
