Dear Parents/Guardians,
Congratulations on your child making the volleyball team at SGMS! We are very excited to see what your child brings to the team and help her grow as an individual and a team player. We have a few announcements before we commence the season. Players will sign up for a game where they will bring snacks or drinks for the team. Each player will pick one game and the coaches will as well. Your child will write the chosen game on the attached schedule. As in previous seasons, we have closed practices. Parents and guardians are asked to not come in the gymnasium until 5:00pm to pick up children. The team is perfecting skills and wants to display them in games, so please refrain from entering the gym until 5pm. We are also implementing a new policy this year on pick-ups. As members of a team, players should be picked up in a timely manner. Practice occurs daily from 3:30-5pm and will be notified to times to pick up players after games. If a player is picked up late twice from games and/or practice, the player will be suspended from the team for two days. Once suspension is over, the player may rejoin the team as usual, but a third time being picked up late will result in the player being released from the team. To keep any of this from occurring, all players are required to join the 21st Century after school program, so they will have a guaranteed ride home after practice. Families are also encouraged to carpool or find other arrangements for their player if an issue occurs where the child will not be picked up on time. Lastly, physicals are due to Coach Walmsley no later than September 7th. Students who do not turn in physicals will not be allowed to play or practice until turned in. We look forward to a great season this year and appreciate your support throughout the season. GO WOLVERINES!!!
