Dear Parents/Carers of pupils in Year 5,

Residential trips are an important part of school life and in Year 6 we offer the opportunity for our children to take part in the Hilltop Experience. Hilltop is an educational adventure and study centre near Sheringham, Norfolk. Over the past few years we have organised this residential visit near the beginning of the school year as the experience offered by the centre focuses on managing independence from home and moreover working in a team and promoting team spirit. At Little Paxton we attach great importance to these aims.

The activities on offer range from physical challenges such as High Ropes to the Climbing Wall as well as less energetic challenges such as archery, Group tasks and Trust work. There is also the chance to visit the beach and carry out some coastal erosion field work. Evening activities would include a swimming session at the local Splash pool as well as woodland walks and games and a disco!

The children stay at the centre on a full board basis with 3 cooked meals each day – including cooked breakfast and there is also toast and cereal available in addition! The food here is excellent and no-one goes hungry! Drinks are available throughout the stay and hot chocolate is served at several points during the day, especially if the weather is particularly cold!

We have booked a 4 night stay from Monday 17thto Friday 21st November 2014

We would very much like to take the children to Hilltop but it can only take place providing the parents of all children participating are prepared to meet the costs involved. If this turns out not to be the case, then the visit will not go ahead.

The cost of the visit to Hilltop has been provisionally charged at £255. It could turn out to be slightly less.If payment for this trip is a concern then please contact us in the strictest of confidence as there are various ways we may be able to help.

To book a place, the Centre requires anon-refundable deposit of £60 by Tuesday 1st April.

This deposit confirms a place for your child subject to full payment being made by Friday 3rdOctober 2014. Payments are required as follows:

Option 1

Deposit of £60 by 1st April and then balance of payment by Friday 2nd May

Option 2

All deposits and further payments should be made online please via the schoolcomms system. Receipts will then be issued.

If you wish your child to be considered for Hilltop please pay your £60 deposit electronically by 1st April and tick the permission box on the online form.

We expect all children to behave well both at school and when out on trips. We reserve the right to refuse to take any child whose behaviour causes us concern.

Please be advised that if there is not enough interest in the visit by the 1stApril the visit will be cancelled and all deposits will be returned.

Kind regards,
