Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to third grade!! Did you know that you are now the older buddy for the first time ever here at Sarah Adams? You are! We will be buddies with Mrs. Hedstrom’s afternoon kindergarten class. That is just one of the many things to look forward to this year.
Third grade is the first year of intermediate elementary school. Before when you were in kindergarten through second grade you were considered to be in the primary grades. You can feel very grown-up about that. Third grade is a year of much growth and independence, but of course with that independence comes more responsibility……. BUT don’t worry!! We will all work together to teach you those skills so that you can practice and apply them this year as you continue on in your many years of education.
Have you ever thought about what it means to be a life-long learner? Maybe not, but I know that you are a life-long learner as you have been curious and motivated to learn from the day you were born. We never stop learning! My mom and dad are both 90 years old, and they are still learning new things every day because they like to learn and certain things we all have to learn. We all like to learn!! Sometimes at school we may think that we aren’t interested in certain topics. I simply ask you to be curious and motivated to learn, and I guarantee that you can find interest in everything that we will explore and learn about this year. I will do my best to help you be motivated about learning. I have been teaching for 30 years, and every year there are always new things for me to learn. So come aboard and let’s learn and grow together this year! It will be your best year yet. J
It was my pleasure happy to meet so many of you on Tuesday. I was very impressed with your good manners and enthusiasm for school. I hope that you are excited and motivated for this very special year of school!
We will have Curriculum Night for 3rd – 5th grade on Wednesday, August 31 from 6:30-7:30. This is for parents only. Please make plans so all parents can attend without children and get all the details about our curriculum, classroom procedures, and routines.
Parents, please remember to go to www.lz95.org for the Sarah Adams website where you will find all dates and times of events that are district and/or school wide. It is essential that you use this resource to keep up on dates and events. You will also find The Virtual Backpack which will have necessary forms and information that you will need. Please regularly check the site. All teachers have webpages that can be found by going to the district site, then Sarah Adams faculty webpages. We will discuss more at curriculum night what you can expect to find there. Looking forward to getting to know all of you and working together for a great year of learning!
Sincerely,
Ms. Rhonda Fischer
