3rd February 2015

Dear Parents and Pupils,

I have had the most wonderful opportunities to ‘soar with the eagles’. What a magnificent view point they have of ‘Life on Earth’. No ‘load shedding’, no traffic nor human conflict. It is just the wind, the blue sky and silence, what bliss. What struck me the most is how beautiful this country of ours is. A country we are normally too busy to see or appreciate. I also realized that to create the unity necessary to start appreciating all around us, we require great personal strength, gentleness, faith and courage. However, throughout this flight in a small Foxbat aircraft, I could not help but wonder at the life that was pulsating, those many feet below. The infrastructures that are in place and the enormity of the task at hand, in creating a spirit of high mutual respect for all South Africans, is in our own hands. It then brought me back to Wendon Academy. We have been able over the short years, to develop a powerful and complementary team, who have a deep understanding for all our children showing love and respect. All of which, brought about our theme for the year:

/ “Committed to ………. My Valentine”

PROJECTS TERM 1
The Grade Eleven’s will be running the Outreach Programme this year. We have earmarked two projects:
Change For Charity
This ongoing collection of “small change” will benefit our fundraising project. Please “raid” your purses and get rid of any unwanted change.
Bread Tags
Please collect the small plastic bread bag tags and send these to school. We will be supporting BEIKE BIOTECH who use the money raised from recycling the tags to buy wheelchairs for disabled people.
The Grade Twelve’s will be visiting Amaoti / Cogs Feeding Scheme on Thursday 5th February 2015. We will be collecting Mayonnaise and Peanut Butter. Please support this cause.
/ If there is anyone who lives in New Germany and is able to help a pupil, Thabile Buthelezi, to get home, please could you call her mom on 073147 9316 or alternatively let the school know and we will ask her to make the necessary arrangements with you.
