Dear Parents and Guardians of Team Quadra,

As you may already know, our team has been learning about the emergence and development of culture through a simulation unit called Marooned where students are stranded on an island and have to survive for a prolonged period of time. We are hoping to show a 1963 version of Lord of the Flies, a movie adaptation to William Golding’s novel, as a celebration at the end of the unit sometime in February. This movie has not been rated in the USA, but is rated PG (Parent Guidance Suggested) in other countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia. The movie contains some scenes that may be violent and may be scary for younger students, such as the killing of a pig and the display of a severed head of a sow on a stick. More information on the movie for parents can be found on the Common Sense Media website (

If you would prefer your child NOT to watch this movie, please kindly email or bring a note to your child’s advisory teacher by February 1st. Otherwise, no action is required and we can provide an alternate activity for them. If there are any questions or other concerns, please don’t hesitate or contact us.

Sincerely,

Team Quadra
