Dear Parents and Carers,

New Central Foundation Uniform: September 2014

As discussed with parents through a number of meetings this year, Central Foundation Girls’ School is introducing a new school uniform from September 2014. Our new uniform reflects the high achievement of the school and the high standards we set ourselves to be an outstanding educational provider. The new uniform is being introduced as our Building School’s for the Future programme is coming to completion so that both the uniform and the new buildings signal that Central Foundation is a school that transforms lives through our high expectations and high standards for all students.

To maintain these high standards and consistency, only one reputable supplier will be used for our new uniform. Consequently old uniform will not be acceptable in September 2014 onwards.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the ten month consultation process which has involved students, parents, staff and governors. After taking these views into consideration the school has agreed a new uniform which has been approved by the governing body. The new uniform will be worn by all students in Year 7 to Year 11 starting this September 2014.

The new uniform list is as follows:

ESSENTIAL ITEMS:

1.  Navy CFGS badged blazer

2.  Grey CFGS badged smart suit trousers, badged jilbab or box-pleat skirt

3.  White shirt (worn with trousers or skirt)

4.  Black tights or socks

5.  Black flat plain shoes. No boots (ankle-high footwear in winter)

6.  Plain black coat

OPTIONAL ITEMS:

•  Navy CFGS badged plain jumper

•  Plain white collarless non-visible T-shirt under shirt or jilbab

•  Plain white headscarf

•  Plain black or white headband under headscarf

•  Only school uniform can be worn under the jilbab; this could be grey CFGS trousers, black tights or black socks for example

To ensure that your daughter is ready to start school in September, her uniform must be bought online.

Students must wear the essential items. The optional items are not compulsory. From September the new uniform must be worn; no other items will be accepted.

In Summary

A brief guide to how to buy the new uniform is as follows:

2.  Check the measurements and information on the order form brought home by your daughter

3.  Visit the website, using the directions on the form, to order each item of your daughter’s uniform

4.  Pay for the order and decide where you would like the uniform to be delivered (you are advised to have the uniform delivered to school. It is less expensive than delivery to your home)

5.  Make sure you order before August 15th. This is the last date to ensure delivery on time for the start of the new term

6.  Collect your uniform package and try on the uniform

7.  Bring any queries, returns or exchanges to the attention of the school as soon as possible, enabling your daughter to start school in our new uniform on September 4th.

Purchasing the New Uniform

The Central Foundation Trustees have kindly agreed to purchase the first blazer for every student in the school, including Year 6 students due to start in September 2014. All items on our new uniform list will be available for purchase online after your daughter has been fitted for her free blazer and her correct size recorded. The uniform must be purchased online because it will not be available from a local retailer at this stage. If you foresee any issues regarding internet or computer access do contact your Head of Year or the Parent Support Worker, Ms R. Talukdar.

Process for Obtaining the New Uniform

·  Our new uniform and blazer fitting will take place in school on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th of July. Parents will not be required to attend as fittings take place during lesson time.

·  Your daughter will be fitted with the correct size blazer in school and given an order form with the right size for her trousers, jilbab, skirt or jumper. She will be able to choose from the trousers, jilbab or skirt, she can choose to wear one of them or all three; the blazer is compulsory.

·  Your daughter will bring her new blazer home on the same day as her fitting, with her order form for the other items of uniform. The order form will clearly state her correct size and the corresponding prices for her uniform items.

·  You will then be able to go Online to purchase the uniform.

·  When the order has been made, paid for and processed, your daughter’s uniform will be delivered to the school (or your home for an additional postage cost of £3.95) in August so that you will be able to collect her uniform before the first day of school on Thursday 4th September 2014.
