  1. How many OT departments are there and their designation? (i.e.: community, hospital)
  • Falkirk Council does not have a specific Occupational Therapy Department. Falkirk Council does not have a designated grade of Occupational Therapy within its establishment. The Council operates a system whereby we employ Community Care workers who come from a variety of professional backgrounds and are expected to carryout a wide range of statutory tasks. Therefore, Occupational Therapists employed within the Social Work Department in Falkirk Council carryout assessments for equipment and adaptation within the context of completing a holistic assessment with regards to a single shared assessment.
  1. Do you have OT’s funded by the NHS working as locums, if so how many and which teams ?
  • As stated above we do not have OT specific posts, therefore we do not have OT’s funded by the NHS working as locums.
  1. What type of OT departments are there i.e. adults/children/equipment/blue badge.
  • As stated above we do not have a specific OT department within Falkirk Council. Our OTs work as part of a Community Care service within Community Care teams and are not specifically dedicated to OT tasks only.
  1. How many Permanent OT’s in the department ?
  • There are currently 27 full time equivalent Community Care Workers who have a professional qualification of Occupational Therapy.
  1. How many temp/locum OT’s in the department as of 19 October 2012 ?
  • There were three locum agency OTs as of 19 October 2012 with the designation of Community Care Worker full time equivalent within the teams.
  1. How much was the spend on locum OT’s by department from 1st January 2012 to 19 October 2012 ?
  • Falkirk Council is unable to provide this specific figures as stated throughout this response. We do not specifically hire OTs we work within a qualified grade for Community Care Workers.
  1. Do you recruit for senior OT staff as a locum ?
  • No as above.
  1. What is the management structure of the OT service ?
  • As stated above there are no specific management structures for OTs. The management structure within Falkirk Council has a senior grade, Team Manager Grade, Service Manager grade, Head of Service then Director. Currently there are Senior Workers, Team Managers, and Service Managers who have qualification designated as Occupational Therapy, but they are not specifically being employed as OTs, but rather as generic Seniors, Team Managers or Service Managers.

Yours sincerely
