Dear Ministry Partner, February 28, 2017
This month of February reminded everyone in the nation that not only typhoons wreak havoc here in the Philippines, but so do earthquakes. On February 10, a powerful, 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurredoff the coast of Surigao del Norte. At least six people died and 143 were reported injured. Also, hundreds of homes were damaged, several bridges collapsed, the airport landing strip was rendered unusable, several main water lines were damaged, and there were widespread power outages. Shortly after, PBDRM was able to coordinate with some Pastors in Surigao City to share the good news and distribute some relief items to affected families.
The PBDRM relief efforts started on February 14 as we coordinated with Pastor Elijah Abarca of End Times Baptist Church, Surigao and Pastor Chad Mahinay of BibleBaptist Church,Surigao. During that week we were able to assist over 150 people with relief packs containing rice and other foods. All of these folks heard the gospel as well and over 100 professions of faith were made, praise God!The following week, on February 23, we were able to assist some folks in Anao-aon, Surigao. The response into this area was delayed a bit because of rebel groups in that area who were ambushing supply distribution vehicles and also because of bad weather. In that area we were again able to distribute relief items and share the gospel to over 150 people.
We continue to notice that the hearts of the people are often more receptive to God’s Word during times of disaster and we thank God for this unqiue opportunity to reach them with the gospel, which can save them from the greatest disaster of all in eternal Hell! Please pray for the people who were able to hear the gospel through these efforts and for those who will be doing follow-up work with them. Please pray also for the long-term recovery efforts in these affected areas.
We are also excited to report that the Lord recently blessed PBDRM with twomore new Filipino supporting churches! We would like to thank Metrolight Believers Baptist Church in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan (under the leadership of Pastor Nathaniel Uy) and Metro-Laguna Baptist Church in Calamba, Laguna(under the leadership of Pastor Jose Reyes). Please pray for more and more Filipino churches to include PBDRM as part of their missions program. If you know of a Pastor and/or local church that might be interested in being a PBDRM partner, please get us in touch with them. Also, if you have any questions at all regarding PBDRM just contact Director Jeremy Ferguson. Thanks and God bless you!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Jeremy Ferguson(Cellphone number: 09234798041)
