I am reaching out to you because April is National Donate Life Month, a month-long celebration of the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Through your participation, you will join people across the country who will be demonstrating their support of organ and tissue donation andhelping to bring much-needed attention to this critical issue.
Every day,20 people die waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, and nearly 4,000 are waiting in New Jersey alone. They are our family, colleagues, neighbors and friends. One organ and tissue donor can save up to 8 lives and restore health to over 75 others. With your help and participation during the month of April, we can educate the publicabout organ and tissue donation and transplantation, giving those on the waiting list in your community hope for a second chance at life.
#SaveNJLives is NJ Sharing Network’sDonate Life Month initiative to start conversations about organ and tissue donation and transplantation throughout the state of New Jersey.During the month of April, over 150 pizzerias and coffee shops throughout New Jersey will be distributing custom designed pizza boxes and coffee sleeves displaying the number of people in the local community currently waiting for a life-saving transplant. The boxes and sleeves include a call to action to visit visitors can find out how many people in their town are waiting for a transplant, share the information via social media and learn additional ways to help. We encourage you to visit the month of April and help support this life-saving initiative.
Another way to be a part of this exciting month is to participate in National Blue and Green Day on Friday, April 13th. Show your support of organ and tissue donation by wearing blue and green proudly on that day and throughout the month.Tweet your Blue and Green Day photos to @NJSharing, tag us on Instagram @NJSharingNetwork and use hashtags #NJSN and #DonateLifeMonth, to spread the word.
