Dear Head Teacher/Music Co-ordinator,

Following the previous successful concerts at Bury’s Castle Leisure, involving over 800 children, we are delighted to announce COBS 2017, conducted by Sharon Peters and Lucy Griffiths.

Primary schools who engage with the Greater Manchester Music Hub and Bury Music Serviceare invited to take part in one of four proposed concerts at Castle Leisure Centre on either Saturday 11th or Sunday 12thMarch 2017. Schools will be allocated a performance date and time depending on how many schools sign up for each performance. We will try to accommodate each school’s preference.

Schools will be asked to make a payment of £1 per choir member to cover initial costs.

It is likely that children will be asked to be at the venue for 9.00am if they are in the afternoon performance (rehearsal 9.30am to 12.00pm – concert 1.00pm to 3.00pm) and to stay for lunch. For the evening concert children should arrive at 3.30pm for a 4.0pm0 rehearsal and a concert starting at 7.30pm – tea will be required).

Each school will be required to guarantee that at least two staff members accompany their pupils to the rehearsal and at the concert.

Tickets will be made available for each school to sell to parents.

Each school will be given a pack containing a CD of the backing tracks/vocal tracks and all the words to the songs ready to copy/project for children, with single line melody copies. If any school feels they would like some support in learning the material for the concert, please get in touch with the Music Service who will be happy to help.

A meeting will be held on THURSDAY, 8th December from 4.15pm to 5.00pm at St. Peter’s Primary School, Whitefield Road, Bury for those schools who are taking part.

Please make a note of this date and let me know if you are interested but unable to attend.
