Dear Gold Band Parents, January 21, 2015

Our annual Illinois Grade School Music Association’s (IGSMA) Band District 9 Organizational Contest will be held Saturday, March 14th at Richard Bernotas Middle School right here in Crystal Lake!
(Exact time of day to be given to us hopefully soon!) The Purple, Gold, and Monday Nite Jazz Ensemble are required to perform at this IGSMA District Contest. Therefore, this is a required band performance for all Gold Band members. In order for our band to sound its best, we need to have everyone present.

Don’t forget, ourJoint Concert on March 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Crystal Lake South HS! This is a concert we do every year with CLS. Monday Night Jazz Band performs @ CLS on March 19th.

In order to get ready for this Band Contest (which is like the “Band PARCC” test), we’ve been working on our music every morning in rehearsals and sectionals. We’ve also scheduled a “Band Lock-In” in order to get some in depth rehearsal time on Friday, January 13st at Lundahl from 2:30-8:30 p.m. We have a lot of fun planned for the evening besides rehearsing (fun team building activities, games and ….Subway!). It should be a really fun time! But, in order for our band to get the most out of this “Lock-In,” we will need to have most of our band members present. Since this was not on the original schedule sent out in September, I realize that some families may already have plans made, but if at all possible, PLEASE try to have your Gold Band student in attendance. Also, this year we will need to charge a $5.00 dinner fee to cover the cost of the Subway sandwiches (many parents expressed that they would like to have the kids eat something healthier than pizza – so Subway won!).

Below is the Permission Slip for all of the Gold Band members for the Lock-in as well as for the IGSMA Band Contest. Please sign and return this Permission slip by Wednesday, January 28thso that we know you are aware of the lock in,IGSMA Contest, and that the Gold Band can count on its members being present.

If, for some reason, your band student cannot attend the Band Lock-In, please indicate that as well. Thanks so much for all of your support!!!

My Gold Band student, ______has my permission to attend the Band Lock-In on Friday, February13th, 2015 at Lundahl Middle School from 2:30 - 8:30 p.m. I understand Subway sandwicheswill be provided for dinner. I have enclosed $5.00 to cover the Subway sandwiche for my child. I will be able to pick him/her up at 8:30 p.m.
