Dear Fellow Sugarloaf Dog Owner,
Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about dogs. And yet, the problem continues to grow. This is unfortunate, as we realize it’s not all dog owners who are at fault, but it is a poor reflection nonetheless. Guests renting condominiums through Sugarloaf’s rental program are told that we do not allow dogs.
Below is a sampling of what we hear from others:
From Guest Comment: “Both of the previous two "7's" would easily be "10's" but for one reason. There was dog's waste (number 2) all around the outside of the Condo. Also on the back deck stairs there was yellow snow right where you went up the stairs. The Condo is ski in and out but you need to dodge the dog's waste. At one point I took off my ski and used it as a shovel to pick up and move about 8 loads so that someone didn't ski, step or fall in it. It was honestly gross. Sugarloaf was awesome , the Mountain is awesome, the inside of the Condo was awesome and the people/staff were notably nice; but the dog's waste issue was unsatisfactory. I will recommend Sugarloaf to everyone but I will have to make note of the dog's waste issue. We also had to limit the children's playing in the snow because of it. I ski/travel a lot have had a Condo at Killington and have spent a lot of time at Mt Snow at a friend's Condo; this was never an issue. I also have a large dog who I always pick up after; it's not only my responsibility but it's the law. Lastly, what really troubled me was that renters/guests can't bring pets so this failure to clean up after they pets is from the Owners of the Condo's.”
From Owner: “This past weekend, my daughter in law, who is six months pregnant was approached by 2 ‘friendly’ dogs while she was hiking on snowshoes. Theyjumped on her, tore her jacket with their teeth, bit her through her jacket leavingher with a bruised and sore arm. The owners were nowhere in sight. When the owners finally approached several minutes later they apologized but did not leash their dog even when she told them what had happened.”
From Guest Comment: “It is not a dog issue; I'm a dog owner. It's a dog owner issue, picking up after there dogs. Clearly 1 or 2 loads would be something that was missed by accident, but the number of loads that were there meant that the owners don't even attempt to pick them up.”
From Sugarloaf Security: “Looking for help finding a golden retriever named ‘Fred’. ‘Fred’ bit a puppy on Sunday in the VillageCenter area. The puppy is facing a 6 month home quarantine unless we can find ‘Fred’. “
If you bring your dog to Sugarloaf, your dog needs to be on a leash at all times or under constant voice command. It is your responsibility to clean up after your dog at all times. We appreciate your cooperation.
Sincerely,
