Dear Eighth Grade Parents

April 1, 2016

Dear Eighth Grade Parents,

May Crowning is Friday, May 6 at 11:30 AM in St. Andrew Church. Each 8th grade student has an important role in this prayer service to commemorate that our Blessed Mother is Queen of Heaven and Earth.

There is a dress code for the students. Please abide by this in order to make this a reverent ceremony to honor Mary and our Lord. The dress code will be the same for graduation, and the same outfit may be worn for both celebrations.

Girls:

·  Dress/skirt: Wear an outfit that does not expose your shoulders, chest, or upper thighs. Sweaters, shrugs, or jackets may be worn over the dress. Girls will be bowing and/or bending over to place flowers at the foot of the statue of Mary. We don’t want any embarrassing moments for the girls or those in attendance! A good guide is for the dress to go below the fingertips when arms are placed straight at the side, palms facing the thigh. Put on the dress at home and practice bending over. Check the back AND the front from a seated position.

·  Shoes: Girls may wear dressy shoes with LOW HEELS. No high heels (2 inches or higher) allowed.

·  Make-Up: Please be conservative if you choose to wear make-up. Make-up should accentuate God’s beauty, not dominate over the natural face. No heavy eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow, blush, or lipstick. No make-up or subtle is best.

Boys:

·  A dress shirt and tie. Dress pants, belt, and dress shoes (no sneakers). A suit is fine but not necessary.

Thank you for your cooperation. I hope all mothers and grandmothers are able to attend! This is a special privilege reserved for our 8th graders and they are wonderful role models for the 6th and 7th graders in attendance at our May Crowning prayer service.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bohlen
