10th Ascot Beer Festival
30th September & 1st October 2016
/

Dear CAMRA Member,

The tenth Ascot Racecourse Beer Festival will feature around 280 real ales, ciders and perries. As before, there will be a full programme of racing taking place whilst the festival is on. Public viewing of the Autumn Meeting takes place from just behind our bars, so we are right in the thick of the atmosphere and volunteers will have the opportunity to watch the racing during their breaks. As our bar is located in the general admission area, there is no dress code other than a ban on bare chests! We shall once again be provided with staff Polo Shirts to cover said chests. The area we are in does tend to become a wind tunnel even on warm days, so it is advisable to bring a couple of spare layers.

The festival operates on the tokens system, with all beers retailing at the same price, making bar work very straightforward. Essential, as the bar becomes very busy between races!

Bar staff will be needed on the days when the festival is open of course, and a team is also required to take down and tidy up on Sunday 4th October. All staff members working when the festival is open will be entitled to free festival beer or cider at the rate of one pint per hour worked and those working all day will have a basic packed lunch provided. The CAMRA branch will receive a monetary donation from Ascot Racecourse in return for our services, and it is intended that some of this will be used to fund a Helpers’ Social Event at a later date.

If you have never before worked at a beer festival, why not sign up for just one session? If you’re enjoying yourself (and most people do!) you will be welcome to stay. If you would like to help, please complete the attached form and send it by email to or by mail to:
