Dear CALUMS students:

On behalf of the California University Management and Sciences Library, I would like to thank you for taking the time in attending the Town Hall Meeting held on February 18, 2015, and voicing your opinions and concerns with Dr. David Park and the staff at CALUMS.

In regards to your colleagues’ desires to have the library hours extended, a set of new hours of operation for the library has been established. Currently, the library is open from Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a. m. to 6 p. m. With agreement from librarian, Daisy, and the facilities management staff, the library hours will open from 9 a. m. to 10 p. m. from Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p. m. on Saturdays, particularly during Midterms and Finals week. This schedule will commence on March 9, 2015.

Since the students had been having a difficult time with the multifunctional copier/printer/scanner/fax machine, I would like to inform you of a couple of changes to the management over it.

  1. The library staff will no longer hold the key to the multifunctional machine. Although they will walk you through the steps to operate it, they will not be operating it for you. Shall they encounter problems they cannot solve, they will ask you to be patient and ask assistance from the IT’s. As always, please do not harass the library staff, including the library assistants and their supervisor on site.
  2. Students will be directed to the front desk to exchange bills for coins, when students need coins to operate the multifunctional machine. In the near future, the library will be implementing a card system to operate the multifunctional machine such that coins and bills will not be required to be deposited into the coin box; however, this system will take at least a little over one month of time.

Regarding the textbook lists for classes in the upcoming quarters, these lists will be compiled and made available before the next quarter begins. As instructors at CALUMS have been instructed to make them available to CALUMS staff at least a week before the next quarter starts, the list will most likely be made available shortly after then.

Shall you have any other concerns related to the library, please do not hesitate to email .
