Dear benefactors, volunteers, and animal lovers:

On behalf of the animals of this city, The Humane Society of Zihuatanejo (S.P.A.Z.), founded by Helene Krebs Posse, A.C., would like to thank all of you for your support over the past 28 years.

Since its inception, our association has provided a comprehensive approach to animal care. This includes emergency and ongoing care for injured, ill and abandoned animals. Our shelter is staffed by a veterinarian, animal care workers and volunteers. The animal residents at the shelter are well fed and cared for during their stay. They are sterilized, immunized, and given appropriate parasite flea and tick treatment. When the dogs and cats have recovered, they enter our successful adoption program. Wild animals are released to their original environment or a new safer one.

Over the years, we have expanded our efforts to include an ongoing low cost sterilization campaign, and three to four times a year we conduct free sterilization clinics for dogs and cats. In addition, we consistently promote community education to increase awareness of the necessity for population control through sterilization. Our outreach education programs in local communities and schools raise humane animal treatment awareness amongst the youngest members of our city and rural areas.

In the nearly three decades since our inception, the demand for our services has grown beyond our current capacity. The SPAZ facility, located at Casa Marina, was set up as a temporary base. We have known for some time that if we were to expand our services, we would need a larger facility.

Recently we found a space that meets our requirements in the Paseo dela Boquita area of Zihuatanejo, between Angelous church and Comercial Mexicana. This roughly 2500 square feet property has a building with almost 800 square feet of floor space. The cost is 700,000 pesos (approximately 54,000 U.S. dollars).

As our only income is from sales of t-shirts, small donations and a subsidy from the owners of Casa Marina, The Humane Society Board of Directors is asking for your help to raise this amount. The new location will house only the Humane Society; there will be no commercial shops on the premises.

We are asking for your support for this proposed property purchase. If you are interested in helping, you can donate with a direct deposit into the Humane Society BANAMEX bank account in Mexico. Our account number in Mexico is # 18-8005020 BANAMEX. Outside of Mexico, include the transfer code (CLABE): 002282001880050202. Or you can contact us directly via our web-page: ().

We thank you in advance for your help and ongoing support, and we will keep you informed on the progress of this exciting initiative.

Sincerely,

The Humane Society of Zihuatanejo, Helene Krebs Posse, A.C.
