Dear Baseball Parent/Guardian:
My name is Michael Sweeney and I am the head baseball coach for the Chagrin Falls baseball team. Our baseball team has been very successful during my 17 years as head coach. We had an extremely successful baseball season last year. Hopefully, this will motivate us to have an even better year this year.
One of the ways our team has become successful and will continue to be successful is by going on a spring trip. This trip can improve our skills immensely by allowing us to practice outside multiple times as well as play baseball games all week. This trip also gives me the opportunity to look at individual players in a baseball environment. Our staff feels that the spring trip is one of the major reasons for our outstanding record over the years. It is a great way for our team to bond and come together as a team. It also gives us a chance to focus purely on baseball for a week without distractions.
In order for our baseball team to make the trip south, planning must begin now. We are planning to go to The Ripken Experiencein Myrtle Beach ( for their spring training program. We are preparing to take around 35 players. As of now, our plans call for us to leave on Friday, March 23rdat 8:00 PMand return on Saturday, March31stat 8:00 AM. Our goal is to play as much baseball, both JV and Varsity, on the trip as possible. Players will have the opportunity to have some free time during the day; however, our primary focus on this trip will be to play baseball and improve as a team.
The estimated price of the trip is about $850. The price includes bus transportation, accommodations at the condos for players and coaches, a rental van when we get there, use of the practice fields and batting tunnels, games and umpires.
IMPORTANT: IF YOUR SON DOES NOT MAKE THE BASEBALL TEAM, YOUR MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. PAYING THE MONEY DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOUR SON WILL MAKE THE TEAM. EVERY PLAYER TRYING OUT WILL HAVE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF THE VARSITY/JV BASEBALL TEAM.
Once again, I can’t wait to start the baseball season and continue to get better as a team. I think we can have another excellent year. This is a tribute to the type of parents and players that are a part of the baseball program. I am very proud of the quality kids our staff gets to coach and that we are able to do something like this on a yearly basis. I want to thank all of you for your continued support.

I will be allowing my son to try out for the baseball team and will also allow him to go on the Myrtle Beach spring trip. I understand that my son must first make the baseball team and then be chosen to go on the trip. If my son does not make the team, I understand that any fundraising done by the team before the season will go towards the baseball team and that all money directly paid toward the trip will be returned as soon as possible.
