Thank you for your interest in Shine and the vacancy of Fundraising Officer – Wales and Northern Ireland.

This role is a new position based either at Shine’s Peterborough Head Office or our Cardiff Office within the Fundraising and Communications team. Working to the Fundraising and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing the fundraising work in both Wales and Northern Ireland.

This will involve working from Peterborough or Cardiff with frequent visits to Wales and Northern Ireland as appropriate to meet both Shine Cymru and Shine NI staff, and the fundraisers who are based in these countries.

The countries

Shine Cymru consists of 4 staff members who between them meet the needs of all Shine members across Wales. The team are highly committed and we are keen to capitalise on the energy of these highly motivated individuals and transform fundraising in the region.

Shine NI is an active team of 6 staff who work closely with our colleagues in England and Wales, to support, inform, and empower people affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. The NI community is a close-knit and vital network in which the charity functions, and the role of Fundraising Officer is key to promoting awareness, raising significant funds, and thus securing the long term future of the wider organisation.

The job will require you to understand the bigger financial picture, and it will involve implementing and coordinating a wide range of fundraising initiatives, both established and new. The successful candidate will also need to take responsibility for working independently, whilst still adhering to targets and performance outcomes within the team environment. It will provide the right candidate with an excellent fundraising opportunity.

We are looking for someone who has the right personality to engage and inspire fundraisers. You must have an excellent experience in the fundraising arena with particular skill to engage and maintain committed fundraisers. We need you to be professional, personable, vibrant, passionate and highly motivated. You must also possess a strong commitment working in the voluntary sector.
