The new DysonCity vacuum

Engineered for city living

The Dyson CityDC26 is a powerful but compact cylinder designed for small spaces.City dwellers form over 90% of the UK’s population[1]. And in England, 2.3 million homes are smaller than 50m².[2]With space at a premium, there’s no room for bulky appliances that don’t always clean effectively.

The vacuum is small enough to sit on an A4 piece of paper – with no loss of cleaning performance.

All 275 parts of DC26 were re-engineered by Dyson specialists to miniaturize the technology while keeping the performance of a full sized vacuum. Dyson’s patented Root Cyclone™ technology - condensed to fit into the machine - spins dust and dirt out of the air using centrifugal force, so there’s no loss of suction. 13 small inner cyclones deliver superior efficiency in as little space as possible – keeping air velocity high and energy consumption low.

James Dysonexplains:

“It took us five years to painstakingly compress and rebuild every single component before we had a machine that was a third smaller than its predecessor, yet could still tackle dirt like bigger machines.”

Although DC26 weighs less than some laptops, it’s incredibly tough – withstanding 5,318 drops onto a hard floor and 10,000 pummels against a metal wall from Dyson’s test team.

Asthma and allergy sufferers can breathe cleaner indoor air, as every component and seal in the DysonCity vacuum is engineered so allergens are retained. Its dual channel floor tool also means that two separate airflow channels can direct suction power evenly. As with all Dyson vacuum cleaners, the air expelled from machine contains up to 150 times less bacteria and mould than the air you breathe.

While suction can drop by half in some bagged vacuum cleaners, The Dyson City vacuum retains the same high level of suction, room after room.

Notes to Editors

 British new-build homes are the smallest in Europe. We live in smaller homes than 14 other European countries, including Belgium and Luxembourg. Unlike most nations, Britain has no legal minimum-space standard for homes.

 Data complied by the Home Builders Federation shows that a typical new-home built in Britain this year will be 55 per cent smaller than one built 80 years ago.

 There are now 20 per cent more rooms than a quarter of a century ago, meaning we have moved from a country of few large rooms to one of numerous small ones.[3]

A recent survey by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (Cabe) found that 57 per cent of householders did not have enough storage space.
