Background

Dave “Buddy” Ward, III graduated from Van Vleck High School in 1979 and Prairie View A&M University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was a charismatic and outgoing individual who never met a stranger. He was a friend to all.

Buddy passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the age of 49 after a courageous battle with Stage IV colon cancer. This scholarship is being presented in his memory to do what Buddy’s life mission was – to help others.

The Family of Dave “Buddy” Ward, III would like to express all coaches and families who participated in the 5th Annual Dave “Buddy” Ward, III Memorial Basketball Tournament on May 27-29, 2016.
