Duties and Responsibilities:

BASIC FUNCTION:
Install, configure, and maintain databases and product software, and integrate these with the operating systems in support of information technology university-wide.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, upgrade, integrate and maintain the University's databases and product software with all related applications.
Install, upgrade, integrate and maintain product software using the University's current databases with the multiple operating systems and hardware.
Integrate databases, product software, operating systems, email, virtual and individual systems environments and the communications required between them.
Maintain database standards, security, and data integrity.
Manage all database environments (i.e., production, test, quality assurance, demo, installation, upgrades, and integration with all databases).
Execute backup and restore procedures for all databases and regularly monitor and tune databases for optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve all problems related to the various environments.
Participate in evaluation of products designed to maintain and integrate the databases, applications, and operating systems supporting all products.
Coordinate maintenance with other information technology and end-user units of the University.
Work with information technology staff both at the University, other institutions and outside vendors to develop and maintain technology products and services for the University.
Continually monitor and analyze the information technology needs in support of ongoing production support as well as new functions and processes. Make recommendations on appropriate solutions including software and hardware alternatives.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain proficiency in the support, installation, maintenance, and system performance of databases and systems used within the University.
Participate in the evaluation of applications and their relationship to the University's technical environments.
Perform other related duties as required or as assigned by the Manager or Director, UCS.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computer and printer; must be proficient in the use of various software and programming tools; computer workstation equipment, and basic system administration tasks.

Required Qualifications:

`Required:
1) Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience as a database administrator of a relational database in a Unix/Linux or Windows environment including product configuration and support of related products, with two or more years' experience in one or more of the following areas: MS SQLSERVER, Oracle, or MySQL; Or an associate's degree and six years' experience as a database administrator of a relational database in a Unix/Linux or Windows environment, including product configuration and support of related products, with four or more years' experience in one or more of the following areas: MS SQLSERVER, Oracle, or MySQL.
2) Demonstrated project management skills.
3) Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to work with diverse groups
4) Demonstrated strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred:
1) Working knowledge of the following relational databases: Oracle, SQL Server, MYSQL, experience in support of products such as WEB Content Management systems preferable WordPress, PHP, experience with PeopleSoft Administration preferably in higher education.
2) WEB Services administration.
3) Demonstrated performance monitoring tools.
4) Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle pl/sql, Linux shell scripting, transact sql.
