Data Analysis Plus version 9.0

Created 7/26/11

This is the latest version of Data Analysis Plus and is the version that should be used by students with Office (Excel) 2010. It is no longer provided on a CD but will be available along with downloads that come with an Online Content Access Code.

The Link for these downloads will appear on a student’s account as seen below:

After clicking ‘Open’ you will see the list of resources with ‘Data Analysis Plus v9.0’:

Click this link, then the Header below to start the download:

You will be given the option to Open or Save the file. It is a ‘zip’ file so you will need an extraction utility such as Winzip to extract the file.

Extract the files within the zip file to your desktop. You will see three files:

The first file is the add-in, ‘Stats_2007-2010_v9b.xls’ and should be placed in the ‘XLSTART’ folder within the Office program files directory. The location of this folder will vary based on your Operating System and version of Office. Use the appropriate directory from the list below:

Office 2007 – 32 bit computer:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART
Office 2007 – 64 bit computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART
Office 2010 – 32 bit computer:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLSTART
Office 2010 – 64 bit computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLSTART

The second file is a Help file, ‘Stats_2007-2010_v9b.chm’. If you wish to be able to access a ‘Help’ menu for this Add-in from within excel you will need to place this file in the folder above the ‘XLSTART’ folder. On Excel 2007 this folder will be called ‘Office12’, on Excel 2010 it will be ‘Office14’. Please note: This is not a necessary step in using the Add-in.

The last file is a Text document which briefly outlines the above directions.

Once this has been done you can open Excel and you will see the Add-Ins tab with Data Analysis Plus displayed:

If this Add-in does not appear you may need to ‘enable’ it. To do this, click the office button and select “Excel Options”

The select ‘Add-Ins’ from the left and click the ‘Go’ button toward the bottom

You will then see a listing of Add-Ins that you can select from. Select the box next to ‘Data Analysis’ and select ‘OK’
