DARTS ONTARIO PROVINCIAL YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHAPERONE POLICY & RESPONSIBILITIES

POLICY

1. All competitors attending the Darts Ontario Provincial Youth Championships must have 1 adult chaperone per room. Chaperones must pay a Darts Ontario Membership fee of $8.00. Chaperones must sleep in the same room as qualifiers staying at the hotel. These rules apply whether you stay at the host hotel or not. Rooms are to be 1 male adult for every 3 or less male competitors or 1 female adult for every 3 or less female competitors. Players must stay at the hotels we have contracts with.

2. Chaperones must be responsible adults above the age of majority and approved by Darts Ontario. Chaperones under 21 must be approved by D. O. prior to the Provincials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. It is possible that some competitors may have reached the age of majority during the current dart season but the fact that they are participating in the Darts Ontario Youth Championships over-rides the age status. Chaperones & Leaders must ensure youth players do not partake of any alcoholic or illegal substances. Chaperones are to report any incidents to directors immediately. Chaperones encouraging or promoting the use of any of these by any youth player will be subject to disciplinary action by the Darts Ontario Executive.

2. Youth Leaders are responsible for ensuring that there is no alcohol or illegal substances in any room where a qualifier is staying. It also applies when staying in their parent’s room as 1 parent in the room must be registered with Darts Ontario and therefore is considered a chaperone.

3. Chaperones are responsible for ensuring all players are in their rooms by 11PM Friday & Saturday night as that is curfew time for all competitors. Darts Ontario & the hotel will be given a list of individuals in each room and if there is a problem we will be talking to the chaperone & director. Players are not to be in any other room after curfew nor are they to be in the halls creating noise and infringing on the rights of other hotel patrons.

4. Chaperones are responsible for having a list of player’s names, home addresses, phone numbers and Ontario Health card numbers. This list should also contain medical history i.e. allergies, medications etc. In case of emerg.

5. Chaperones & Leaders are responsible for ensuring all competitors are properly attired before they enter the playing venue, that they know their board assignments and are in the immediate area ready to play.

6. Chaperones/Parents must understand that they are responsible for the actions of their players. Any damage inflicted on hotel property or playing venue will be the responsibility of the Youth League, Youth Player and/or Chaperone/Parent of the player that committed the offence. Remind all players there are security cameras all through the hotel including the stairwells. Pool – 16 & under require a chaperone (adult only).

7. Leaders/Chaperones/ Parents are responsible for paying any bills incurred by and in the name of their Youth Player or Group of Players. Darts Ontario will not assume responsibility for any debts incurred by individuals or groups. No outside food or drinks in venue area, which includes the foyer (signs will be posted).

8. In the event a chaperone, player or youth group becoming involved in or causing actions considered to have brought the sport of darts or the Darts Ontario organization into disrepute disciplinary measures will be taken against the offending party or parties. Possession or consuming alcohol/illegal substances, fighting physically or verbally will be dealt with immediately and will be dealt with accordingly such as disciplinary action.

All Darts Ontario Youth Provincial Chaperones must sign to acknowledge that they are aware of and will adhere to Darts Ontario Chaperone Policy as well as the Darts Ontario Rules and Regulations.
