ACCOMMODATIONS
For teams traveling from out-of-town, we have not been able to secure the two closest hotels (Howard Johnson and Accent Inn) as unfortunately they are both sold out Friday night. I have contacted the Comfort In (approx 15 min away) and they have offered a competitive rate to be host hotel. They can be contacted at (250) 382-4400. The rate quoted is $89 for two persons or $109 for quad and includes breakfast. It may be reduced further.
DRAW
(see attachment to email for draw and game times )
Higher-seeded team is Home. If both teams are the same seed, South team is home. Home wears white. Coaches can communicate prior if they wish to wear different uniforms but must be mutually agreed upon
CHANGE ROOMS / TEAM BENCH AREA
There are designated change rooms for the home and visiting teams. These are available for both changing purposes, and for the respective teams to have a place to meet. PLEASE remind your players not to leave any valuables in the change room at any time. Also, it would certainly be helpful if, when teams finish their game and are leaving the team bench area, they take with them any bottles, ice-packs, and other misc. paraphernalia. This would be respectful to the next team occupying that space.
AWARDS CEREMONY
On Saturday night after the final game, there will be an official Awards Ceremony. It is hoped that all teams will be able to attend. Awards being given include:
-placement trophies for 3rd, 2nd, 1st
-medallions for the Championship Team, as well as 2nd and 3rd place teams
-Most Sportsmanlike team
-five 2nd Team All-Stars
-five 1st Team All-Stars
-Best Defensive Player
-Most Valuable Player
PLAYER of GAME and ALL STAR NOMINATIONS
After each game there will be a player of the game selected. These will be selected by the coaches to allow coach discretion to 'share' the award or give to a deserving team member . As well after each game each coach will be asked to fill out an all star 'chit' that will be submitted to score table and then to all star committee.
COACHES’ ROOM
During the tournament there will be a coaches’ room with some light snacks and beverages. This is intended for the coaches whose teams are participating in the tournament, as well as for referees who are working the tournament.
CONCESSION
The Claremont basketball parents will be presenting a well-stocked concession with numerous home baked goods. Water and Powerade will also be available.
COACHES’ MEETING
There will be a coaches’ meeting in the coaches’ room on Saturday, after the 2nd game of the morning. This should be at approximately 1:00pm. At this time, any concerns or questions or motions should be brought forward, including reports from the commissioners’ of both the North Zone and the South Zone. In addition, the host school for 2017 may be decided.
FINAL COMMENT
It is our hope that this is an exciting weekend of basketball ON the court, and an event that will create special memories OFF the court. If there is something you need during the weekend, or if after reading this lengthy memo you feel there is something we have missed, please let us know.
Good luck to everyone!

Darren Reisig
