DAPHNE’S G(reat) G(uiding) C(apers) CHALLENGE

Daphne MacGregor-Greer started Guiding as a Brownie at the age of nine in Victoria. She went on to be a Guide and earned her All-Round Cord when she was fifteen. She has been involved in Guiding for over forty years and as an adult in the following locations: Victoria, Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax.

Throughout her Guiding career Daphne has enjoyed many things. Some of her fondest memories are included in this challenge.

After she met and married her husband Derek, and they were a family with two daughters, Jennifer and Sarah, Daphne became involved in Guiding again as Brown Owl. She wanted her daughters to have the same wonderful Guiding memories that her years in Brownies and Guides had given her.

Daphne has worn many hats over the years. Among them, she has been a Brownie, Guide and Spark Guider, District Program Adviser, District Treasurer, District and Division Commissioner, Deputy Area Commissioner (SVI), Committee member of the Provincial Program and Provincial International Committees, a BC Council Elected Member, Provincial International Adviser, Deputy Provincial Commissioner and most recently took on the challenge of Provincial Commissioner. From 2008 to 2013 she represented BC well at the national level as our Provincial Commissioner.

This challenge has been created as a legacy to Daphne’s term as Provincial Commissioner. We challenge all members of Girl Guides of Canada in BC to expand your horizons! Learn more about our wonderful and diverse province, your own community and yourself. Daphne’s legacy is to inspire you to discover your own passions and interests as she has done during her Guiding years.

This challenge can be completed by a single girl or Guider or as a unit. If this is completed as a unit, please include the list of girls who participated in it. Once the challenge has been completed send the tracking sheet (last page) to the Provincial Office along with a stamped, self addressed envelope and the crests will be sent back to you at no charge. Once the crests are gone this challenge will be over so do it early to avoid disappointment.
