“And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne…, stood a Lamb!” Rev 5:6In John’s visions of heaven we notice that at the center of all attention and worship is the Lamb of God. Everyone in heaven has their faces towards Him, they sing to Him, and about Him, and all fall before Him and worship Him. He is the Lamb, for He gave his life for us; and He is the Lion, since He is the King of Kings, and worthy to judge the world in righteousness. If we are not now enamored with Jesus, spending our time singing to Him, about Him, and worshipping before Him, then we will not enjoy heaven. Jesus is the supreme focus and the delight of redeemed hearts in heaven, so it should be on earth also.
Dear friends in Christ: Greetings to you from Ghana!
Radio Ministry:
I continue to work on bible lessons for our weekly radio program. I am now working through the book of Revelation, and must admit this is one of the most difficult books in the bible to study. It is also one of the most sobering and frightening books, as it gives us a preview of the severity of judgment that will fall upon the earth, when our Lord Jesus Christ unleashes His vengeance and wrath on the ungodly. The radio station has indicated they want to increase the cost of our radio airtime quite substantially. I informed them if the price increases too much, I might have to consider discontinuing the radio program. They said they would consider trying to keep the price lower for me, as they enjoy the program, and have worked with us for many years. Please pray the Lord would help us, and grant us favor with the station management so as to keep our costs manageable.
Memory Challenge 2015:
The children are once again working diligently to memorize scripture. This years challenge in 2 Corinthians is a bit easier then previous years, since several of the chapters are shorter in length, and thus easier to memorize. One boy wanted a new bible, and I promised him after he completed four chapters I would give him his very own bible. I had given away several other bibles to others, but had kept one aside especially for this boy, since I knew he was working hard towards this goal. Today he came to quote his fourth chapter, and when I gave him the bible with some words of encouragement, he went away with a huge smile, like he had just won a million dollars. How great to inspire children to love and cherish what really matters! We now have 49 chapters quoted from 26 participants, amounting to a collective total of 857 verses.
Teen Class:
I have been teaching the Sunday morning teen class for the past several weeks, and working through John’s gospel with them. The students are also working through Emmaus courses, and submitting them to me for marking. It is encouraging to see them participating in this, and hearing some of their questions submitted with their course. One girl asked what a person had to do to become a “servant of God”. Another asked why David got off so easy, while Moses, whose sin seemed small, had to be punished so badly. These questions help me to see what the children are thinking about, and address it in the class while teaching them. Some seem to be present in body, but not in spirit, however there are keen students who show a good spiritual appetite. We pray they will all come to faith in Christ!
Evangelism:
Some of the young men in the assembly have been meeting on Sunday’s to organize themselves to do gospel outreach on Saturdays. This was not initiated by myself or the elders, but the young men initiated the effort themselves. This is so encouraging to see, and I am doing my best to keep my nose out of their business, except to offer them as many gospel tracts as they need, and to pray for them. Today, while my wife and I visited the hospital, we were able to distribute many tracts to the crowds of people we met there. I was praying also that the Lord might grant me opportunity to visit the nurses training school at the hospital to speak with all the prospective nurses, and share the gospel with them. Apparently they do have regular Christian meetings through Christian Union representatives. Shadrach said that if they knew I was a missionary they would be glad to invite me to preach to them. Pray the Lord might grant this opportunity.
