Frank Litsky, NY Times: Aikman, the Dallas Cowboys' 27-year-old quarterback, agreed yesterday to an eight-year, $50 million contract that will make him the highest-paid player in professional football history. The contract includes an immediate signing bonus of $11 million… It replaces the last two years of Aikman's original contract, which would have paid him $1.17 million this season and $1.37 million next season… The agreement calls for annual salaries of $2.5 million in 1993, $1.75 million in 1994, $4.15 million in 1995, $4.90 million in 1996, $5.25 million in 1997, $6.2 million in 1998, $6.75 million in 1999 and $7.5 million in 2000… Yesterday was the final day to rework existing contracts and include some of the money in a 1993 contract. Next year, for the first time, N.F.L. teams must operate under a salary cap. For example, $1.33 million of Aikman's $50 million was added to his 1993 salary and is thus exempt from the cap. The $11-million signing bonus must be prorated over the course of the contract, so $1.375 million of that is assigned to 1993 and also exempt from the cap.

Clarence E. Hill, Star-Telegram: it's six-year extension worth 54 million in new money. But the kicker is that the deal includes the $3.1 he was scheduled to make this year. So he will make roughly $57 million over the next seven seasons, including $18 million guaranteed, a source said. But if you look at how the contract is being worked on paper it's really a uniquely structured $57 million deal over the next seven years, the source said The deal includes no signing bonus or option bonuses. All the money is tied to his yearly base salaries. And his base salary will be a whopping $17 million in 2010, a source said, not the $3.1 he was scheduled to make. Now he won't get all $17 million this season. $10 million will be paid in weekly checks during the 17-week season with the other $7 million paid off in deferred payments over the next two years. His base salary next season is $8.5 million with some of that also being deferred. According to the source, Austin will take home roughly $18 million over the next two seasons combined. His base salary in year in 2012 will be around $1.5 million.
Jason La Canfora, NFL.com: the deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money and a maximum value of $54.1 million, including $18 million in 2010 and $25.5 million during the first two years.
Todd Archer, ESPN: Austin’s base will go from $8.54 million to $685,000 with $7.855 turned into a signing bonus. His cap number will go from $8.54 million to $2.256 million, creating $6.284 million of room.

Sources confirmed to FOXSports.com that the date is actually June 3… Barber, who is signed through 2014, also has a $250,000 roster bonus due for the following season on June 3, 2012. He’s scheduled to earn $5.75 million in base salary for 2012.
Joel Corry, NFP: Barber received a seven-year, $45 million contract (with $16 million guaranteed) in 2008 as a restricted free agent without having a 1,000-yard rushing season or being an every-down running back. AdamJT13: He did not get a signing bonus, but he could get a $2 million option bonus this season if we decide to pick up his option for 2013… If we don't pay him the option bonus, his base salary for this season increases from $1.4 million to $2.5 million and becomes fully guaranteed. The last two years of the contract are voidable (which might be why it was reported as a three-year contract). He has a $100,000 workout bonus each season… If we don't exercise the option, his base salaries in 2010, 2011 and 2012 increase by $400,000 each.

As of now, Bryant's guarantee is over $8.6M, but since $250k can be reduced, it's being reported as an $8.3 million guarantee.
Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas: They also made a bookkeeping adjustment on the contract for wide receiver Dez Bryant that day, turning a $1.435 million roster bonus into signing bonus, which allowed them to save about $957,000 against the cap.
