Thank you for signing the AVID planner each night, and checking the blue AVID folder (organizational tool/OT).
AVID – Why that name?
AVID’s founder,Mary Catherine Swanson, believed that if students werewilling to work hard, she could teach them the skills needed to successfully complete the rigorous courses that would prepare them for four-year universities. She required students to take ownership of their own learning and futures, hence the acronym Advancement Via Individual Determination.

Wow! Our students are reading EVERY day, and already taking and passing tests (80% or higher). Thanks for checking the planner, and encouraging 20+ minutes of reading during the week as a part of the nightly homework.
August Birthday Greeting
Birthday wishes go to Nevaeh as she celebrates her birthday this month.
iReady Testing
Testing begins soon, and our class schedule will be posted in Class Dojo. I’ll share the test results with you during our AVID intake conference. One way teachers are preparing classes is by sharing informative videos, but we encourage you to also watch the following with your child to better understand what to expect with iReady:

At present, the children get a workout using Go Noodle https://www.gonoodle.com/ on Mondays and Wednesdays, in PE class with Coach Allen on Tuesdays, and walking and/or running (Mighty Milers) on Thursdays and Fridays.
