ROCKINGHAM COUNTY TOURISM GOES MOBILE
Custom tour now available on Travel North Carolina App
Wentworth, NC—The Rockingham County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) announces the launch of its “Play in Rockingham County” custom tour on Our State magazine’s Travel North Carolina app. “Play in Rockingham County” is the first custom tour on the app in the Piedmont Triad region. The Travel North Carolina app, powered by Our State magazine, is free and available for use on the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and on Google Android phones.
The Travel North Carolina app is a go-to guide for exploring the entire state. The app leads you to attractions, historical sites, lighthouses, national and state parks, outdoor adventures, museums, shopping, wineries, and more. The app is divided among regions in North Carolina: Western, Greater Charlotte, Triad, Triangle, Eastern, and Statewide. The “Play in Rockingham” custom tour is found in the Triad region and highlights the major traveler destinations in the county. Each listing in the tour includes GPS triggered maps, including driving and walking distances and turn-by-turn directions, contact information with direct links to phone numbers, web sites and social media pages, and descriptions, photos and videos (when available).
“We are very excited to launch the Rockingham County custom tour on the Travel North Carolina app,” said Robin Yount, vice president of Tourism. “Right now, ours is the first custom tour in the Triad region on the app and that puts our attractions front and center in the region. It will greatly increase visibility for Rockingham County and all the wonderful outdoor recreation attractions we have here.”
The TDA is the main host of the custom tour, which made it more affordable for the partner businesses or organizations to have a presence on the app.
“This app is a new product offered by Our State and we felt like we couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to participate and help make it more affordable for our local tourism-related businesses and organizations to participate as well,” added Yount. “We encourage everyone in the area to download it and spread the word to everyone you know. It’s a great tool for exploring Rockingham County as well as the whole state.”
The Travel North Carolina app is free and available for download in the App Store and Android Market. Tours may be streamed to save hard drive space or downloaded to enjoy without Wi-Fi or 3G connectivity.
