Curtin PTO Meeting Minutes

March 16, 2015

Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President Missy Morrone.

There were 10 people in attendance.

Update/Fundraising:

·  Secretary and Treasurer’s Reports were reviewed and approved.

·  Wolfgang Candy Sale: Made around $5,000, but still under budget goal. Pick up candy on 3/18 after school until 4:30.

·  Book Fair: No financial report yet, but Michelle was pleased with the event even though we had bad weather throughout the week.

·  Box Tops: Made around $1,100. Talked of doing collections twice a year, with the possibility of another one this spring.

·  Assemblies: Our expenditure for assemblies has been less than we anticipated so hopefully that will help make up for our shortfall in fundraising. We would still like to get the High School Black Box Theater to come and preform at Curtin.

PTO Board Nominations:

·  A motion was made and approved to extend the terms of the President and the Recording Secretary for another year so the Board will have some continuity.

·  President: Missy Morrone (will stay on)

·  Vice President: nominated Barb Fritz

·  Treasurer: nominated Rachel Holcomb

·  Corresponding Secretary: nominated Kristin Fisher

·  Recording Secretary: Sandy Baker (will stay on)

·  Voting will take place at the next PTO meeting in April.

·  Bridget Allen has agreed to be the Book Fair Chairperson for next year.

New Business/Upcoming Events:

·  A Pop Corn Popper was purchased! It is larger than the one we have been using and with supplies the total will be around $1,300. It will be delivered this week!

·  Spring Picture Day: Thursday, March 26th only those students who preorder and pay will be photographed. We will receive 20-25% of photo sales.

·  Hoss’s Night: Thursday, March 26th.

·  Sweet Frog Fundraiser will be in April after Spring Break. And we will try and run one or two of these during the summer as well.

·  Apparel Sale: We will try and have samples available during Parent Teacher Conferences. Still need to decide on products and prices, but there will be a variety of items to choose from. We will run the sale in the fall also.

·  Walk-A-Thon will be held in early May.

Title 1 Report, Dr. Litz:

·  Discussed previous Title 1 Workshops and asked for parent input for future workshops.

·  There will be a Bingo for Books on Tuesday, March 24th.

·  The last workshop will be in conjunction with the Band Concert in May and will focus on summer reading.

·  Introduced the suggestion of forming a Student Council. We are looking for more ways to get the students involved.

Principal’s Report, Mr. Michaels:

·  Field trips: 4th Grade will go to the Coal Mines, 5th Grade will go to Lake Tobias, and 6th Grade will go to The Whitaker Center in Harrisburg.

·  The school wide behavior system is going well.
