Event Name/Hosts

·  CRA, SOCS and WI confirmed as hosts.

·  Curridge Horticultural Society (CHS) need confirmation from the Chairman (currently on holiday) to whether they would like to be involved. TC to pursue.

·  Although initially considered to be run as a joint event with the Curridge School fete, DF has spoken to MD (head of Curridge School) who felt it was better to separate the event from the school fete, thought to be for staffing issues. JR to discuss with MR and confirm the position of the school for further clarity.

Date

·  Date confirmed as Saturday 2nd June, provisionally from 4pm till late. Confirmation dependent on activities.

Venue

·  Venue confirmed as WI Hall and Car Park and possibly Curridge Playground/School.

·  JD to ask owners of Carbrook field to see if they are happy to use the field as a car park, and possibly to provide sponsorship.

·  Gazebos to be provided by Committee members/Residents and Curridge Horticultural Society (depending on their involvement).

·  Supply of chairs also needs to be confirmed. WI and CHS have chairs, but more are needed. Residents to bring their own?

Catering

·  JF confirmed WI happy to provide cakes and salads, as with previous events.

·  Hog Roast to be booked, supplied on a DIY basis from Graham Plank for around £390 (depending on numbers and therefore size of pig). KW to book and organize buns, apple sauce etc.

·  Bar - DF to apply for alcohol licence, and organise supplies from West Berkshire Brewery. Bar team to be organised later. Provisional time for bar is 4-10pm

Activities

·  Legacy for the village – there was some discussion about a lasting memorial to the Jubilee in the village – refurbishment of a bench or a garden was considered. Steering Committee to pursue if deemed appropriate.

·  Scarecrow competition was discussed and agreed. Perhaps incorporating treasure hunt style walk/trail around the village. Regal/Royalty theme was confirmed. AM to find out more details from Pangbourne, as they hold a regular Scarecrow competition and trail.

·  Other activities suggested included an inflatable assault course, animal Olympics, maypole, stalls for horticultural society to sell plants, WI to sell cakes, etc, crockery smash, archery (too dangerous!), duck/sheep races, crown competition, fancy dress, quiz.

·  Bouncy castle is dependent on venue but should be provisionally booked. JC to do this. Insurance also needs to be acquired.

·  Jean Rush not able to provide Maypole this year, therefore unlikely to go ahead.

·  Pony rides – suggested but may be unlikely due to insurance issues. AM to ask Kate Mills if it is possible.

·  Music – KT will ask Jan and Peter, KW to ask Kate Dunn and DF to ask Simon to provide music. PA to be considered. Background music also needs to be considered at a later date.

·  Children’s views must also be sought on activities. CRA members and others to gain views from children!

Organisation – Steering Committee

·  CC, KW, DF and AM volunteered for Steering Committee.

·  JD, JC, Leslie Dick, CW, KT, WI and SOCS volunteered as helpers

·  CW happy to approach local businesses for sponsorship – Barlows, Chieveley Motors, Pubs, Barracks, FC Cummins, etc.

Marketing

·  Ticket price to be kept low as an incentive for inclusion but needs to cover costs. Any profits to go to Curridge School/ SOCS

• MEETING CLOSE - 9.30pm
