MBA: Strategic Carbon Management Energy Tour

14th - 16th June 2012

Tour J

Introduction

This Energy Tour will explore East Norfolk and examine the energy issues of the region; how these have been used historically; how they are being used at present; and how they might be used in the future. Some issues of Climate Change will also be discussed during the tour. Depending on traffic conditions, some of the planned visits may be omitted. There are nine different variants of the tour A - J and you will find your actual tour indicated on the front cover of this booklet. Tours E – H are whole day tours – varying in length from 5 – 9 hours. Tours A – D will typically last for around 3 - 4 hours. Tour J covers two days

For completeness the notes of all visits are included for your reference and all locations whether we actually visit them or not will be discussed as we drive through rural Norfolk. However, for tour J, the information relating to the Adnams visits will be given separately. The locations visited on a particular tour may also vary slightly, depending on access restrictions and traffic conditions.

You are advised to bring suitable clothing as some of the visits are out of doors.

Practical Points:

·  There will be an opportunity for a toilet/refreshment stop at Horsey Mill for all tours in summer months and many also in winter.

·  Other toilet stops will include Sea Palling (tours E – J)

·  Great Yarmouth – all tours.

A Technical Point

During the tour reference will be made to the term Load factor. This is a measure of how much equipment is used. A load factor of 30% could mean that the plant is operational at full output for 30%, or alternatively at 30% output for 100% of the time, or any combination in between.
